Vito Hannibal Acconci is an American artist born on January 24, 1940. He is a designer, landscape architect, performance and installation artist. He is recognized especially for his performances. Starting in 1969, with Following Pieces, Vito Acconci dedicates his practice to the exploration of the place of his body and of the spectators' bodies during his performances. Many of his performances took place at The Kitchen in New York.
