    "Nous avons passé l’Histoire à nier l’animalité qui, ne nous déplaise, nous constitue. Plus encore, peut-être, l’Histoire n’a - t - elle été qu’un arrogant entêtement à nous éloigner de nos essences biologiques. Ainsi avons-nous construit notre orgueil comme espèce et notre sentiment de domination sur l’environnement. Il suffit cependant d’observer nos activités quotidiennes pour en distinguer les comportements les plus ataviques. Nous partons au travail comme qui partirait à la chasse, nous nous battons pour le pouvoir et pour la copulation comme tout autre mammifère, nous manifestons des désirs territoriaux, nous nous entretuons pour les meilleures proies… Sous l’emballage aseptique du progrès, la vie continue d’être sauvage.

    Après tant d’années passées à capter nos traits physiques et nos sentiments les plus profonds, l’appareil photo a pris vie, incorporant notre comportement et finissant même par avoir une âme. De l’autre côté de l’objectif palpite une conscience débordant d’inquiétudes. Au plus profond et obscur de son âme, l’appareil photo guette, planifie, désire et depuis peu, rêve aussi.

    Nous présentons ici un échantillon de la vie secrète des appareils photo. Comme on pourra le constater, ils ont déjà adopté quelques-unes de nos habitudes, et entretiennent même d’étroites relations avec certains
    exemplaires de l’espèce humaine.

Pilar Albajar et Antonio Altarriba

Spain Born in: 1948
Pilar Albajar and Antonio Altarriba have been working and creating works together since 1989. This duo has set up their own workshop in Spain. They have divided their creation process into two, as each one has their own style.

Born in 1948 in Huesca, Pilar graduated in arts and photography. She is in charge of setting the image that Antonio staged. The latter is born in 1952 in Zaragoza, He is a French literature teacher at a University in the Spanish Basque region, but also a writer, scriptwriter and researcher. His field of research is based on word and image.

The character of their work is a mix of humor and criticism. Indeed, it might not be visible at first glance, the couple addresses universal topics such as death, beliefs, prejudice whose second analysis is much more severe than the first one.
Their works, which was carried out in thematic series was very well received by the public and critics.
