Qiurui Du is a premier voice in contemporary Pop art, recognized for his hyper-saturated, theatrical narratives that dissect the absurdities of modern life.
Based between Shanghai and New York, Du creates a distinctive visual universe where "Camp" aesthetics collide with incisive social critique. His works act as visual prophecies of the digital age, sweet-colored, meticulously detailed, and psychologically complex.
Du’s rising status in the global secondary market was marked by his debut at Phillips Hong Kong (2023). His exhibition history spans over 15 solo shows and 50 group exhibitions globally, including major institutions like the Swatch Art Center (Shanghai), TCCA (Xiamen), and Kuiyuan Gallery (Guangzhou). He is also a regular presence at top-tier art fairs such as ART021 and CONTEXT Art Miami.
Educated at Parsons School of Design (BFA) and Pratt Institute (MFA), Du masters a unique blend of Western narrative painting and Eastern cultural symbolism. His signature series, such as "Telenovelas" and "The Pearl Trilogy," transform fleeting everyday moments into larger-than-life spectacles, exploring themes of queer identity, consumer culture, and emotional intimacy.
Beyond the canvas, Du is a cultural tastemaker. He has launched high-profile collaborations with global brands including VANS, Daphne.Lab, and Fan Beauty, and partnered with WWF on environmental campaigns. He is also the founder of the E.E. Art Group, dedicated to amplifying emerging Asian voices.
Qiurui Du's art invites viewers into a "communal theater": undeniably cool, deeply personal, and strikingly relevant for the contemporary collector.
