Biography
Sensitive to photographic shooting since her adolescence, she entered at 18 years old as assistant to Olivier Dassault, photographer.
Long equipped with a Rollei 24x36, it chooses industrial sites, construction sites, remarkable buildings, as a subject for reflection. Switched to digital, his eye turned to architecture, street design. His work naturally evolves towards abstraction, with the same requirement of framing, light and color relationships.
Isabelle Girollet's photographs highlight the beauty in the “brutalism” of urban landscapes. These are factories, construction sites, bridges, which take on another aspect under the keen eye of the artist, only to see the beauty of colors or shapes. These works are a poetic diversion of what surrounds us. These landscapes which at first glance do not contain any harmony, the artist manages to make us discover all their lyricism. A bridge becomes a lunar landscape, or an automatic door turns into a trickle of fleeting lights. This photographic abstraction leaves the viewer with great freedom to think, to dream about what the subject of the photograph could be.
Isabelle Girollet's photographs are also reminiscent of painting.
