Biography
Jekle, born in 1976, is a self-taught French artist.
The artist grew up in the golden age of the hip hop movement where the walls are covered with giant signatures made with a spray can, with a marker… He is witnessing a wave: they are everywhere. On walls, vans and especially in the Paris metro. Line 7, his, becomes the playground for taggers: it's a shock! He takes an artistic slap.
"I don't know yet that this is just the start of what some are already calling 'passing fad'."
Equipped with a "Baranne" (an express shoe polish applicator widely used by taggers at the time), he places his first tag. From these "apocalyptic" artistic decorations of the 90s, he draws his style, his essence. It will not be in the street that he will gather his fulfillment, but on paper and then on canvas.
Abstract art speaks to him and he mixes it and graffiti. These two worlds collide to give birth to the Abstract.
Jekle is a vibrant artist and his dynamic canvases reveal his desire to dazzle the eyes.
