Biography
Prasad Weerasinghe is a Master of Art History from the Postgraduate Institute of the University of Kelaniya. He joined the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Cooperation in 2006 and he is currently working as the Art Director and Set Designer. His exceptional work highlights the depth of the elements used in his composite figures. Every creation undergoes extensive research and is carefully put together to create its own unique language of art expression.
“I view art as visual literacy and I do a lot of research to understand what art means to me. I try to build up various literacy through my paintings. They have a paper surface, a textured surface, decorative elements, composite figures and 18th century traditional Sri Lankan art. I compose these various elements and rebuild a new creation."
