
Biography
Mayuka Yamamoto is a Japanese painter. Born in 1964, Yamamoto obtained her MFA in 1990 from the Musashino Art University, Tokyo.
Known for her playful oil paintings which feature wide-eyed children in animal suits, Yamamoto’s fantastical compositions transcend reality to produce dreamlike, whimsical narratives. With her exaggerated proportions and focus on introspection, Yamamoto’s art evokes a sense of contemplation, reminiscent of the works of Yoshitomo Nara.
Yamamoto’s captivating works have been exhibited worldwide in major art capitals including New York, Tokyo and Amsterdam.
