The oil painting on cardboard, titled "Path in the Forest", invites the viewer into a serene woodland scene, where nature unfolds in layers of color and texture. The artist employs bold, expressive brushstrokes and an impasto technique to create a rich, three-dimensional landscape filled with movement and depth. The composition leads the eye along a rugged stone path, winding through the forest, disappearing into the misty blue background. The foreground is dominated by large, irregularly shaped rocks painted in earthy tones of pink, brown, and purple. The thick application of paint gives them a tangible, rough texture, emphasizing their presence in the scene. The moss-covered patches of bright green grass contrast beautifully with the muted tones of the rocks, bringing an element of freshness and life to the composition. Small sections of dark shadow suggest crevices between the stones, reinforcing the natural unevenness of the forest terrain. In the middle ground, the path continues through a dense area of greenery. The trees, painted with deep blues, greens, and hints of purple, rise up on either side, their trunks and branches partially obscured by foliage. The brushstrokes here are loose and gestural, creating the impression of a thick, living forest. The interplay of light and shadow adds a sense of mystery, as the path seems to lead into the unknown. The background fades into soft blue tones, evoking a misty atmosphere. The distant trees blend into the cool haze, giving a sense of depth and distance. This use of atmospheric perspective makes the forest feel vast and untouched, as if it continues endlessly beyond what is visible.Through "Path in the Forest", the artist conveys a sense of adventure and introspection. The winding path represents a journey, both physical and emotional, inviting the viewer to step forward and explore. The contrast between the solid, unyielding rocks and the delicate, shifting light suggests the balance between stability and change found in nature. The painting captures not just a location, but a feeling—of solitude, of peace, and of the quiet beauty that exists in untouched wilderness.

Born in 1960 in Konotop, Sumy Region, Ukraine.
1984 - Graduated from Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School (Department of Art and Graphics).
Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, painting and wood carving instructor, artist-designer.
Held the position of Chief Artist in Konotop.
Since 2000 - Independent artist.
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
