"Old Town in the Evening" is an abstract oil painting that captures the essence of an ancient city as it basks in the golden light of dusk. The canvas is a patchwork of geometric shapes and bold lines, arranged to form a mosaic that suggests the architecture and winding streets of a historic urban landscape. Warm tones of gold, amber, and ochre dominate the palette, invoking the last rays of the sun reflecting off stone buildings and cobbled paths. Pops of blue and violet hint at the coolness of the evening air and the shadows beginning to creep into alleyways and across squares. Splashes of bright orange and red could represent the glowing windows and lamps coming to life as the day fades, infusing the town with a cozy, inviting glow. Vertical and horizontal lines intersect and overlap, reminiscent of the layered history of an old town, where every building has a story and every corner reveals a different era. The fragmented style of the painting mirrors the piecemeal construction of such places, built and rebuilt over centuries. Reflections and ripples of color at the bottom of the canvas suggest the presence of water—a river or canal—adding a sense of movement and life, as well as a mirror-like quality that doubles the town's mysterious beauty. This painting is not only a visual journey through the abstract streets of an old town at sunset but also an emotional evocation of nostalgia and timelessness. It invites the viewer to get lost in the labyrinth of colors and forms, to feel the history etched into the very stones, and to experience the serene beauty of an evening in a town that has witnessed the passage of ages.
