Joxan Iza is a Spanish artist, born in Bergara, Spain in 1961.
He began painting quite early in various Basque painting studios but began his training at Beaux Arts in Paris in 1981, he then began working in Claude Augereau's studio. He eventually came back to the Basque region, where he decided to do a masters in Fine Arts and obtained his diploma in 2013.
Joxan Iza has developed a peculiar and personal universe, due to his genuine interest in comics and graffiti. He juggles with various techniques and draws inspiration from expressionism and creates this through acrylic painting, markers, pastels, crayons, glue and varnish, all the while maintaining a preference for collages.
