Presentation

Passionate about creativity in all its forms, Nadia Barbotin has met artists from all backgrounds who have driven her current orientation towards painting.

Self-taught until 2014, Nadia Barbotin has always painted in oils and with a knife but Nadia is opening up more and more to new techniques and mediums with spalters, shapers, acrylic and alcoholic inks, acrylic, even if it means mixing them to give more strength and transparency to his works.

From 2014, Nadia Barbotin takes her destiny in hand to realize her deepest desire, to paint full-time.

Nadia barbotin takes courses in Contemporary Painting, sculpture and living model at the Beaux-Arts in Nantes and at the Ateliers de la Gobinière in Orvault, in order to experiment with different artistic paths. Nadia Barbotin has chosen to produce mostly her own canvases and colors (pigments) in a spirit of quality craftsmanship. Inspired by the Impressionists for their light, their movement and their vivid colors, amazed by the Abstract Expressionists for their vehement and spontaneous emotional language, and by Action painting for the physical gesture and energy, Nadia Barbotin tries to translate in her works, a mixture of all these movements. The song she has practiced for over 20 years also helps her find inspiration in the rhythm of her paintings. Since then, Nadia Barbotin uses all her skills and knowledge in synergy to paint works on canvas and paper which are sources of emotions, feelings, reflection, feelings.

Transparency and depth are obsessions, like a search for absolute truth. Nadia Barbotin constantly tends to work with light so that the painting also reveals itself in its privacy. The color is always in the spotlight, preferably bright, thus vibrating under the light. Sometimes, the material is invited, like a vertical pictorial sculpture, thus giving relief to the supports. The canvas is almost white and the composition gradually takes shape according to the mood of the moment.

Worked by touches, large areas, movements, the painting lives, transforms and finally dialogues with its viewer. Because the most important is the stimulation of this echo, this resonance in the history of each one, the exploration of his own rhythm, of his own intimacy during the encounter with the work.

For more than 2 years, Nadia Barbotin has been working in mixed media on plexiglass, which opens up new perspectives in the approach to painting, a mix between a pictorial work and a volume, that we can touch, manipulate, look at. from all angles. From this omnipresent quest for light was born the Contemporary Stained Glass series.

"Inspiring" painters: Rothko, Nicolas De Staël, Gerhard Richter, Pierre Soulages, Alberto Burri, Zao Wou-KI, Hans Hartung, Kokichi Umezaki…
