Biography
Ula is a painter working in her studio in Szczecin, Poland. She creates simple geometric abstract paintings, that are characterized by balanced colour palettes contrasted with the complexity of layers and textures. Her seemingly simple artworks surprise in closer contact with richness of details and diversity of possible perceptions. Big impact on her art has her architectural education. Like in architecture, at first, she prefers to think and build the bone of the space on the canvas.
She composes her works with multiple layers of unrecognizable, geometric and organic forms. Ula adds another dimension to what is usually considered as a planar surface by creating her oil paintings on linen canvas collages. In her works, she always uses a strict palette. Using colours, that harmoniously match to each other and picking the contrasting ones, additionally emphasize and balance the compositions. Way of putting paint on the canvas adds another layer. The interplay of different textures and directions of brushing adds dynamics and emphasizes the spaciousness of her works.
Her seemingly simple abstract paintings after a moment of observation surprise with hidden richness of details, layers and textures. Its complexity makes it interesting to observe for a longer moment. By viewing from different angles and distances the paintings are constantly changing and confront the viewer with his own perception.
