Biography

In Ruben Orgye's work, body shapes are distorted, reinvented, and transformed into new visual narratives. His work plays with the tension between the recognizable and the unknown, creating a constant dialogue between reality and subjective interpretation. Through lines, colors, and textures, the artist explores themes of the human condition, such as desire, intimacy, and sensuality.

Orgye combines the abstract and the figurative as a visual game that arouses the viewer's curiosity and imagination.

...My work seeks to reflect on the human condition, emphasizing sensuality, intimacy, and desire as territories where our ego reveals itself, metamorphoses, and confronts its own contradictions.

For me, the body is symbolic, a discursive construction. I am interested in how our relationship to the body is influenced by social discourses that shape not only how we perceive ourselves, but also how we wish to be perceived.

Through the representation of masks, gazes and infinite eyelashes, I experiment with this play of tensions by which we want to be recognized and desired, while trying to protect who we are, to control what we reveal to the outside and what we hide.

Influenced by artists such as Francis Bacon, Egon Schiele, Tracey Emin or Willem de Kooning, my painting is spontaneous, expressive and impulsive, with energetic brushstrokes that translate the intensity and emotional depth of my creative process, creating a space where reality and subjective interpretation coexist.

Through this process of experimentation, I seek to offer a space for reflection, inviting the viewer to connect with their own emotions and perceptions, and opening questions about who we are behind our masks and how we relate to our own desire.
