Romero Britto, born in 1963 in Recife, Brazil, is an internationally acclaimed pop artist whose vibrant, playful artworks have earned him recognition as one of the most influential artists of his generation. Known for his dynamic style that blends modern influences, bright colors, and a joyful approach to art, Britto's creativity continues to inspire people worldwide.
From a modest background with nine siblings, Britto's innate artistic ability allowed him to envision a larger, more beautiful world beyond his own. His self-taught journey began at an early age, using newspapers, cardboard, and scraps to bring his visions to life. In 1983, Britto moved to Paris, where the works of Matisse and Picasso deeply influenced his artistic growth. Following his success in European galleries, he moved to Miami, where he set up a public studio and immersed himself in the flourishing Pop Art scene. His relentless passion and bold style quickly caught the attention of art collectors and global brands.
Today, Britto's artwork graces galleries and museums in over 100 countries. His distinctive fusion of cubism and pop art has earned him the spotlight in prestigious exhibitions, including the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts at the Carrousel du Louvre in 2008 and 2010. In 2013, Britto was invited by Maria Elena and Carlos Slim Domit to exhibit at Museo Soumaya in Mexico, becoming the first living artist to do so. His collaborations with global brands like Pepsi, Apple, and Movado have helped reinvent their branding, while public figures, heads of state, and celebrities worldwide celebrate his work.
In December 2024, Britto teamed up with SEGA to launch the BRITTO x Sonic collection, featuring art and merchandise inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog. The collection was unveiled at Art Basel Miami, cementing Britto's position as a pop culture icon. To further extend his artistic legacy, Britto opened three new stores in South Florida in 2024—at Dadeland Mall, Las Olas Boulevard, and Town Center at Boca Raton. These new locations bring his vibrant, signature artwork to a broader audience, offering fans more opportunities to experience his creations.
