Obviously expressionist, the sometimes iconoclastic work echoes the anger of the artist confronted with the paradoxes of our time, exasperated by the violence of the world and the vanity of capitalist society and modern man, unable to hold back the lessons of an often tragic story.
To talk about the dark world that is ours, Damien Deroubaix operates a referential crossbreeding between scholarly culture, trivial art and metal music. Throughout his work, eclectic assemblages of images borrowed from the history of art, popular culture, collective symbolism coexist.
Engraving and the use of all the traditional techniques of printmaking (intaglio, engraved wood and lithography) are at the heart of his artistic practice marked by a great diversity of forms: painting, watercolor, drawing, sculpture , installation.
