Description
Work created by the world-renowned Zimbabwean artist Edmore Chijumani. The stone used for this sculpture is Butter Jade, a semi-precious stone found exclusively in Zimbabwe. Beautiful, very hard with layers of varied colors. This sculpture can be installed indoors or outdoors. This captivating sculpture, representing a fish, is shaped with impressive precision in a material that evokes smooth, ancient stone. Its pale green color marbled with dark spots gives it a unique visual texture, evoking the mysteries of the marine depths. The rounded and harmonious contours emphasize the fluidity of aquatic movement, while subtle details, such as the engraved eyes and delicately outlined fins, reinforce the authenticity of the piece. The contrast between the softness of the material and the strength of the subject embodies a fascinating duality, allowing an immediate connection with the natural elements. Presentation
Born in a family of sculptors, Edmore Chijumani was first taught by his brother Morgan. He soon finds his favorite subject, fish, and carves them out of rich stones such as butter jade, fruitstone and cobalt stone. He is part of numerous exhibitions in southern Africa, Canada and the US, and his sculptures have become collectors' favorites.
