Description
This sculpture features a partially worked, partially polished block of serpentine, evoking spirituality through an ancestral spirit. Oxidation covers part of the stone's surface, transforming it into a modern and intriguing cut. The juxtaposition of the stone's hue and the patina of time creates an aesthetic that is both rustic and futuristic. The piece seems to emerge from an ancient landscape while simultaneously projecting the idea of a technological future. It evokes a profound reflection on the passage of time and evolution. Prestigious and enigmatic, this work invites contemplation on the human imprint within nature.
Presentation
For 60 years, the Zimbabwean sculptors' movement has been considered a major force in contemporary art. Currently, several Zimbabwean artists are among the most renowned sculptors in the world. Better known since its origins as Shona art, this art intrigues and captivates with the modernity of its works. It is African art, yet contemporary, spontaneous art without reference to ancestral tradition.
