Olivier Steinert was born in 1953 in Belgium. He spent his childhood in Congo then returned to Belgium and the Netherlands to study engineering. The observation of the Congolese landscapes endows it with a particular conception of shapes and colors. Already creative before his studies, it was the teaching of mathematics and geometry that gave him the keys to capturing the essence of life in ordered canvases, where the subjects are symmetrical and psychedelic. Gouache is the type of paint that allows him to separate colored objects from the black background. He animates them by taking more and more care of the material using fluorescent gouaches and metallic paints. He put his artistic career on hold for a few years to devote himself to engineering, but resumed it in 2014 and digitized the process by replacing gouache with the computer.
