Through oil painting and in particular my squares, I have been able to express, thanks to this technique, a certain mastery of gesture, sensations, emotions. Contence imposed on us by the society in which we live…. But like Saint-Exupéry, who was asked the meaning of this hat design when he had drawn a boa eating an elephant, I had to open these squares. In search of freedom and to let go, I then came across an absolutely fabulous technique… Encaustic painting A technique of solvent-free painting, thousand years old and extremely permanent in which the main binder is beeswax, tree resin and dry natural pigments. The term encaustic comes from the Greek “enkaustikos” which means to integrate by heat, to burn in the fire but also to burn internally with the fire of desire… ..A whole program on the road to freedom and letting go !!! It is indeed essential to merge each layer of paint with the lower layer. This paint does not dry out but liquefies under the effect of heat and solidifies at room temperature.
