Painter and visual arts theorist, Olivier Long (born in 1965) teaches art at the University of Paris I-Sorbonne. He has also studied Biblical Theology.
His approach shows the tensions generated by urban life, before turning gradually toward abstraction starting in 2013. His work has been shown in many international institutions (Pinakothek der Moderne - Munich, Gulbenkian Foundation - Lisbon, Fabre Museum - Montpellier). His book "L'oeuvre comme exercice spirituel" (The Artwork as Spiritual Exercise) has been published by the Editions Hermann (Paris) ; it is a reflection on the act of painting in the globalized age.
