Biography
Cécile Marchand Painter born in 1970 in Fontenay Bois (94). Cécile Marchand has been painting for 15 years, developing a unique work, without ever giving in to her desire to paint. Today she is working on a series of hippos, languid, hypo-Koon, hypo-Klein, hypo-Ingres dreamers. Hippopotamuses who say no, without humor, the body and its reveries. There again, she accepts the confrontation with the margins, the clichés, the stubborn iconographies, which veils the eye. She strives to assume the vagaries of the image without feasting on them, without redundancy, without bitterness; in play but does not stop affirming.
This freedom and this humor make Cécile Marchand an authentic pop artist. In her painting, she evokes animals, postures and the colors of a properly pictorial paganism. Firm, ambitious, supported by a decisive affirmation as to painting and its requirements, her work imposes itself without coquetry and wordy vagaries ... ..
