Emmanuel Barrouyer is a self-taught French multidisciplinary artist. In parallel to a career as an actor, he gives free rein to his creativity through collage and photography. One of the recurring themes of his artistic work is the question of gender and identity.
In his collages, he creates a hybrid and offbeat imaginary by giving life to works minimalist designs based on existing images, colored and pop, cut into magazines or brochures found at random. He likes to invent a universe redefining the codes of masculinity and femininity of totally queer, poetic, even humorous sometimes.
Men and women lose their faces in favor of luscious lips, jewels or even of insect shells, and the final image, purified, where each new element finds its right place, becomes the theater of all fantasies.
