Toby Deveson is an Italian photographer, born in 1983 in Milan.
Toby Deveson has been doing black and white photography since 1989. He still uses the same old camera, a Nikkormat, and the same 24 mm lens which he borrowed from his father, more than twenty years ago.
Deveson's photos are never cut and re-adjusted, but spontaneously framed during the shot. They are then brought to life through magic and chemistry science in a darkroom.
Whether he takes pictures of landscapes or people, Deveson addresses his work in the same manner, usually by moving around rather quickly in his environment, always taken over by his surroundings, and constantly experimenting with framing and composition.
