Description
In a futuristic world, the name of my sculpture Xyra evokes a singular and modern identity, associated with values of strength, innovation and resilience. In this universe, Xyra is perceived as an emblematic figure, a warrior or a pioneer who embodies the spirit of a new generation ready to take on the challenges of a constantly changing world.
The x at the beginning of the name gives Xyra a mystical and intriguing dimension, suggesting a connection with advanced technologies or forgotten ancestral knowledge. She could be seen as a spokesperson for ancient wisdom reinterpreted in the light of new realities.
Xyra's sculpture, made of plaster and iron, is a striking work that captures the essence of her character in this futuristic world.
The bust is delicately worked to highlight the grace and strength of her face. Instead of a traditional hairstyle, Xyra wears a complex piece of scrap metal on her head, composed of different pieces of metal that form a sort of futuristic crown.
Presentation
Born in 1972 in Lille, Yannick De Praeter is a versatile artist: sculptor, assembler, colorist. Always passionate about materials, especially iron and brass, he acquired a unique expertise thanks to his experiences in the manufacture of luxury pieces in an art foundry. These years of learning and practice have equipped him with a rare know-how, where precision and love of a job well done are at the heart of his approach.
In 2020, Yannick devotes himself fully to the creation of paintings and sculptures. With a keen eye, he carefully selects pieces of character, capable of telling a story. Each element he integrates into his works is the subject of in-depth research and meticulous transformation: sanding, staining and varnishing to enhance the textures. This process requires not only time, but also a mastery of technique and an artistic vision that give each creation a unique and timeless character.
This work of composition requires patience and creativity. Yannick spends hours imagining and adjusting the arrangements, seeking to achieve perfect harmony between the materials. Each work thus embodies a quest for excellence and uniqueness, far from industrial production.
By valuing the material while adopting a sustainable approach, Yannick proves that art can be both aesthetic and committed. His creations, full of history and personality, are much more than objects: they are testimonies of his know-how and imagination.
