Description

In this composition rich in contrasts and details, the artist orchestrates an intriguing encounter between classical beauty and the modern world of luxury. Each element seems carefully arranged to evoke both timeless grace and the contemporary fascination with opulence and consumption.

At the center, a beautifully rendered woman's face occupies the viewer's gaze. Her expression is both melancholic and resolute, suggesting deep introspection. Her face is dotted with touches of colorful paint, like flashes of emotion or lingering memories, while black tears delicately flow down her cheek, adding a dimension of fragility and vulnerability. The crown of flowers that adorns her hair evokes a natural beauty, pure and fragile, while butterflies come to rest around her face, symbols of transformation and ephemerality.

Around her, the world of luxury imposes itself with force. The name "Louis Vuitton" is omnipresent, displayed on silk ribbons, labels and carefully placed boxes. These elements, which symbolize prestige and the desire for possession, contrast with the softness and sensitivity of the central face. The luxurious material of the objects evokes the seduction of the brand, but at the same time, they seem to surround and sometimes stifle the individuality and essence of the woman.

An unexpected element breaks up the scene: the onomatopoeic "WHOA!" bursting out in blue capital letters, a nod to comic books and pop culture. This visual intervention adds a playful touch to an otherwise contemplative scene, like an invitation to step back and see beyond the symbols of luxury and appearance.

The background of the work is dotted with pearls and small whimsical objects, reinforcing the idea of a world that is both material and dreamlike. The small figurines, miniature chocolates and cute accessories bring a lightness to the scene, contrasting with the woman's serious gaze. They remind us that, even in opulence, there is still a place for childhood, for play and for lost innocence.

Title: "Murmurs"

This title reflects the duality present in the work: the contrast between the fragile beauty of the woman and the imposing environment of luxury. "Murmures" suggests that, despite the glitz of opulence, there are subtler and deeper voices to be heard — those of authenticity, introspection and human emotion.

Presentation

Born in 1970, French artist David Cintract lives and works in Paris since 1988.

A painter, visual artist, sculptor and photographer at the same time, he created the "Free Pop" movement, which is more a state of mind than an artistic movement in the classic sense of the word. A child of Pop art, his works are a combination of Warhol's and Lichtenstein's work, David Cintract draws his inspiration from the news, movies or comics to make a better use of color. A big lover of knowledge, he encourages us to meditate about and criticize our lifestyles, with his pieces of an out of place and childish artistic world.

Gaiety of colors and patterns, vivacity and communicative joy, but also deep questions and symbols, such is the trademark of David Cintract, who refuses ease and creates discrete connections between very poetic forces and dark impulses. Using techniques as diverse as oil painting, photography, inclusion or digigraphie, he works on all sorts of supports (paintings, models, cars etc) several of his subjects are related to our postmodern society like how man faces uncontrolled and frivolous consumption, fantasies and adult erotic games as well as the loss of childhood in a society that does not believe in dreams anymore.

David Cintract exhibits his work around the world and thanks to his universal artistic language, he creates deep exchanges with aundiences from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures.
