Description
Seth's paintings embrace and demonstrate his commitment to a wide range of subjects, from market scenes, through beach scenes, city capes and ghetto lifestyle and these are evident in his current preoccupation with the changes around him, changes he feels should be captured and recorded for prosperity. A critic once said, “with Seth, you can almost hear the noise of the market or the sound of the traffic in this painting”. Artist Statement “I believe that reality must be revered. I don’t believe in replacing what is real with what is imagined. The artist’s job isn’t to construct a preferred reality; their job is to refine the beauty in the reality that is already there”.

Biography of Seth Clottey
Seth has been prominent in the art world of Ghana for over two decades. Born in 1960 in Accra where he currently lives and works. He obtained his diploma in arts at the Ghanatta college of Art in Accra. He has acquired and upheld his reputation as a dynamic Ghanaian artist who displays a revolutionary fervor which is difficult to ignore.
His paintings embrace and demonstrate his commitment to a wide range of subjects, from market scenes, through beach scenes, city capes and ghetto lifestyle and these are evident in his current preoccupation with the changes around him, changes he feels should be captured and recorded for prosperity. A critic once said, “with Seth, you can almost hear the noise of the market or the sound of the traffic in this painting".
Seth Clottey is a very gentle, refreshingly quiet for and artist and a good listener with a remarkable eye for detail. Seth's strength is in his quiet disposition and beneath his urbane exterior are a passion and commitment which are seldom evident in artists of younger generation. He also has a fondness in sculpture, which he sculpts himself with eagerness just like his paintings. His sculptures reverberate some of the stylistic qualities of the Ghanaian sculpture in their idealized forms.
Seth is mostly self-taught but was inspired by his late uncle, Krotei Tetteh and artist with delicate touch. He, in turn, has a son Serge Attuquaye Clottey, a talented artist who is making a name for himself at home and abroad.
Seth Clottey has held a number of exhibitions in hotels in Accra and has taken part in a few shows for various charities.
