Born in Davos, Paul Martig lived and worked in Davos, Chur and Paris, and died at the age of 59 of cardiovascular disease in 1962.
This painter, once better known in Graubünden, who, along with Alberto Giacometti, Leonhard Meisser and Andreas Walser, was one of the young Graubünden who left for Paris in the 1920s to be able to be where the pulse of the cultural debate was most noticeable.
Of these four artists, Martig the Silent was an idiosyncratic and reserved painter. We must remember this: in Paris, he found himself in the midst of the turbulent heyday of the revolutionary artistic movement.
