Description
I am crying out for the story of the Giant Clams that are dying out in our waters. This shell, endemic to the Mediterranean, is the second largest mollusc in the world, reaching up to 1.20m in length and living up to 40 years.
The giant clam is one of the millions of species that are impacted by human activity:
The marine anchors tear them up along with the surrounding ecosystem.
> Haplosporidium pannae (a parasite introduced into the Mediterranean by the maritime market) poisons them
Climate change is impacting his diet and lowering his immune system
Today, some areas of the Mediterranean are seeing more than 85% (or even 100%) of the population of Large Fan Mussels decimated.
It is for all these reasons that I wanted to immortalize this great forgotten figure.

A former submariner, he then left steel and technology to return to the body.
With freediving, he rediscovers a free, conscious, meditative immersion.
This shift becomes a quest.
A world tour in freediving to encounter the ocean, and its fragility.
Today, Sofiane Benyahia is a committed underwater artist.
His works, performance painting, analog photography, underwater dance short film, are entirely created while freediving.
Each creation is an immersion.
Every immersion is a message.
Where he shows that the ocean is a wonderful place
Once we got to know him.
Through his work, he doesn't just show the ocean:
It reveals what humanity is losing.
It shares visual experiences capable of slowing down, marking, and deeply reconnecting with underwater life.
