Betty Mbitjana is a very popular Australian artist born in 1954. She grew up in an artistic environment, she is the daughter of the famous artist Minne Pwerle and the sister of artist Barbara Barrage.

Bety Mbitjana's paintings celebrate "Alwelye", in other words the motifs that women paint ed on their bodies and sketched on the sand during ceremonies. through these sacred events, women paid tribute to their ancestors and incarnated the protective role of the mother. A real alchemist, Betty Mbitjana uses ocher, wood charcoal and ashes to compose abstract and aerial pieces. With a sharp sense of design, she composes aboriginal pieces with a sacred character.
