Biography

Chenaya Bancroft-Davis is an Australian Aboriginal artist born in 1992. She is a member of the Bundjalung and Gumbaynggirr peoples. She is part of the Boomalli Historic Aboriginal Artists Cooperative in Sydney.

Growing up in a family of artists, including her mother Charmaine Davis, Chenaya is proud of her Aboriginal cultural heritage and sharing her knowledge through artistic expression.

She uses linoleum printmaking to convey stories, as the linocut process echoes the traditional Aboriginal practice of incising designs into carvings and domestic objects.

“I strive to use my work to inspire people, young and old, to engage with our stories, as they remind us of the need to protect intangible culture. Art creates and connects us to our culture."
