Bronze Sculpture for Sale
He studied at the Brussels Academy (1940-47 and 1949-50), in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode and at the Vrije Atelier in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. It begins with still lifes reminiscent of Jean Brusselmans.
Later he became interested in William Turner and James Ensor and their luminist ideas.
In 1955, Wyckaert began to interpret his environment through lyrical abstraction, with notable influences from oriental calligraphy. It evolves towards a dynamic and abstract combination of attractive colors harmoniously forming a free interpretation of the landscape.
He received several distinctions such as the Jules Raeymaekers Prize from the Royal Academy of Sciences, Letters and Fine Arts of Belgium, an honorable mention by JPB (1957) and an honorable mention at the São Paulo Biennale (1961).
