Biography

"The window is wide open, the starry night illuminates the plants in the room, while a swallow crosses the sky."

With the innocence of someone marveling at the world for the first time, Victoire Kammermann has chosen to paint moments of happiness in the face of fragility. Their rarity drives her to endlessly imagine them; their brief and limited duration compels her to capture them on canvas so that they remain there forever. The Greek evil-eye charm bracelet, which protects against misfortune, is tied to the fertile branches of wild vegetation on an island, where it can always be found.

Sometimes highly detailed, other times simply suggested or unfinished, like any memory retrieved from the past, all the elements in the composition contribute to making it precious. And as in every memory, details emerge and take shape in a scene that, under its calm and serene appearance, conceals the sorrow of a moment that is no longer.

Acrylic paint, oil pastels, dry pastel, glitter powder, and even nail polish—Kammermann uses a variety of surprising media to give even more depth to the dreamlike quality that adorns her canvases.
