Biography

My work brings together two sets of drawings from the same inner territory. Four works depict insect musicians: constructed, symmetrical figures in which the body becomes an instrument.

Guitar strings or piano notes run through the form like a spine, suggesting that music is not added to life, but is its very structure. Opposite them, five other drawings were created without any specific objective, guided solely by gesture and inspiration. They remain closely linked to the musical style that accompanied their creation during the Lorelei music festival: progressive rock, whose complexity, freedom and movement they share. The initial artistic intuitions behind this work are rooted in two fundamental sources: the universe and logo of the rock band Magma and, more generally, progressive rock; and the rigorous descriptive geometry constructions practised during my schooling. These drawings were all created by hand on paper, then reproduced using graphic design software, thus accentuating the impression of volume through shadow and gradient effects. The works are available in limited editions, numbered and authenticated by embossing.
