Biography

Painter born in 1893 in Saint Paul in the Tarn, son of the post-impressionist painter Henri Martin and naturally became his father's pupil! He also studied portraiture, still life and landscape painting under the direction of Cormon and E Laurent. Martin-Ferrieres was Associate of French Artists and has won numerous awards for his work. In particular, Martin-Ferrieres received medals of excellence.

(travel grant), 1925 (national prize), 1928 (Legay-Lebrun prize, Institute prize). In 1965, Martin-Ferrieres organized an exhibition of Views of Venice and Landscapes in the Snow which was well received. The pointillist technique of Martin-Ferrieres was certainly learned from his father, Henri Martin. He was also known for his thick application of paint, layered layer after layer, thus giving his canvases animation and a scintillating use of light.

Died in 1972.
