Biography
Beirut-based artist Maha Hamade captures scenes from everyday life in a jovial, and serene mood. Hamade’s paintings are inspired by her native country’s hidden gems, beautiful chaos and endless contradictions. Her vivid color palette and playful renderings, summon a delighted, yet inquisitive response. Her work balances recognizable forms with intentional ambiguity, allowing viewers to engage with their own perceptions.
With a Master’s degree in Public Policy and International Affairs from the American University of Beirut, Hamade shifted from a career in public policy to art, believing in the transformative power of creativity. Having developed her painting skills for the past several years, she has experimented with different media before developing an inclination towards oil paint. Drawn to its richness and authenticity, she continues to explore the medium’s potential for creating depth and telling stories beyond what is first seen on the canvas.
