Natan Elkanovitch

Moldova

Biography

Natan Elkanovich is a multidisciplinary artist who blends personal history with a unique three-dimensional painting technique. Born in Moldova under Soviet rule, he found early creative expression during a time of repression. After immigrating to Israel, he earned a Fashion Design degree from Shenkar College and worked as a costume designer for two decades, winning four Israeli Academy Awards.

In the 1990s, Elkanovich developed “Natanism"—a sculptural painting style using silicone, acrylics, and plastic materials applied with kitchen tools, inspired by childhood moments with his mother. His textured works explore themes of love, memory, and human dignity, shaped by a family legacy of resilience. His art is held in museums and private collections worldwide.
