Biography

Jan-Willem van Oldeneel (born 1957, Nijmegen) is a Dutch sculptor living and working in Laren, the Netherlands. Trained as an industrial designer and business economist, he combines technical precision with a strong sense of form and narrative. Van Oldeneel creates both commissioned and autonomous work, ranging from sculpted portraits of people and animals to full figures, reliefs and group compositions in ceramic and bronze.

In addition to his sculptural practice, he designs artworks for commemorative and ceremonial occasions, including monuments, medals and objects for ecclesiastical use. He works with a wide range of materials such as bronze, cast aluminium, iron, glass, wood and natural stone, often combining different materials within a single work. His practice is rooted in craftsmanship, symbolism and a thoughtful engagement with memory, place and human presence.
