Artwork location: Italy

Hand-colored engraving and aquatint printing in a single edition (Monotype). This artwork presents a surreal and mesmerizing tableau, dominated by a crimson bird-like creature adorned with intricate patterns. The creature’s feathers are swirled with hypnotic spirals, invoking a sense of perpetual movement. Accompanying the avian figure is a peculiar humanoid with exaggerated features, imbued with a fantastical and slightly unsettling presence. The background is teeming with organic shapes and coiling forms that evoke an otherworldly environment, adding depth and intrigue. The warm, earthy tones envelop the scene in a dreamlike atmosphere, accentuating the contrast between the figures and their environment. The artist’s meticulous attention to detail and use of vivid red hues contribute to a compelling visual narrative that blurs the lines between reality and fantasy. This composition challenges the viewer’s perception, inviting exploration and interpretation.
