MAGMA gallery is glad to present the exhibition ′′ A Matter of Form ", from November 17, 2018 to January 12, 2019, featuring works by Jan Kal bb (Czech Republic), SatOne (Germany), Stephen Smith (UK).
Also in this new exhibition the gallery continues to offer to the public big international names for the first time in Italy, as in the case of SatOne and Stephen Smith, and to continue the collaboration with Jan Kal bb, of which he will also be available for the occasion Brand new and complete ′′ Point of Space ′′ monograph, created in collaboration with the gallery. Jan Kal bb will soon return to Bologna with a solo exhibition at Artefiera 2019 curated by MAGMA gallery.

′′ A Matter of Form ", a matter of form, wants to ironically focus on the diversity of the three proposed styles, a wide and concrete view of urban abstractism. In all exhibited works, specifically made for the exhibition, shapes and geometries are built and reworked according to an abstraction process that can create a dialogue between geometric motifs and the compositional surface of the canvas. In the works of the three artists there is a perfect balance between form compression and minimalism, capable of generating surprising effects of depth and dynamism.

Jan Kal bb (Prague, 1978) is one of the most important authors of geometric and urban international abstractism. In 2018 the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens in Florida dedicated a retrospective entitled ′′ Soul of Graffiti ", with a focus on sculpture. In 2017 in Krakow, Poland, his works are exhibited through the public project Abstract Forum, along with those of other great names such as Nelio, Moneyless and Remi Rough among others, offering a wide look at the current evolution of art abstract urban urban. In the same year Magma gallery presents his first personal in Italy, entitled ′′ Zooom ". In 2015 he exhibited at the MAXXI in Rome, Italy, participating in the collective ′′ Et Cetera ", exhibition dedicated to contemporary Czechoslovak art post-communist regime .. In 2011, after taking part in the first ′′ Biennal de Graffiti Fine Art ′′ at the MUBE Museum in San Paolo, Brazil, he exhibited at the MASP museum in the same city.

SatOne (Rafael Gerlach - Victoria, Venezuela, 1977) from the beginning of his career has been known for the quality of his research, taking part in historical exhibitions dedicated to urban art as ′′ Urban Discipline ′′ in 2002 in Hamburg , next to artists like Os Gemeos, Daim, Banksy. His works are part of the prestigious collection of the Urban Nation Museum, inaugurated in Berlin in 2017; in 2016 he attended the famous Plastic Murs festival in Valencia. In 2014 he took part in the important and exclusive Artmossphere Biennial in Moscow. In Italy we find SatOne in the first street art exhibitions as ′′ Urban Signs ′′ at Palazzo Fogazzaro in Vicenza in 2005 and at the Civic Museum in Bassano del Grappa with the collective ′′ INFART 3 ′′ in 2008, while his unmistakable murals color walls around the world, from New York to Paris.
Stephen Smith (UK, 1976) exhibited his works at important international institutional spaces including the MU in Eindhoven, Holland, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in England and Nam June Paik Centre in South Korea. He was selected for important art residences at the Plymouth Arts Centre, UK, 2016, California Institute of the Arts in 2014 and 2011 at the Russian Space Centre for the Unknown Fields Division project centered on cernobyl. To remember the British Council Visual Arts Award in 2008 and 2006 the Arts Council of England Visual Arts Award.
