Born in 1980 in Dreux, Guillaume Paul-Loubiere, known as "NEP-", now lives and works in Tours. Guided by instinct and with an almost automatic touch, NEP- brings to life vibrantly colored or, conversely, monochrome surfaces, where lines, heads, bodies, and words intertwine to create worlds open to interpretation. Like an improvised melody, the artist paints in the same way a musician plays an instrument: he creates rhythms and notes by immersing himself in the moment. Scattered with mixed media and pictorial elements, his canvases transcribe his memories, emotions, and subconscious in rich, chaotic, and unique compositions. Acrylic, oil pastel, and spray paint clash on the canvas, giving rise to deconstructed portraits, turbulent drawings, and "infinitely delightful scribbles." The intriguing titles, like those of his paintings, encourage reflection and invite the viewer to delve into his works. His work, with its neo-expressionist aesthetic inspired by free figuration and the CoBrA style, falls within the tradition of outsider art.
