Biography

Helidon Xhixha was born in Durrës, Albania, in 1970 into a family of artists and spent his childhood with his father Sali, from whom he inherited a great passion for the Fine Arts, sculpture in particular.

Thanks to a scholarship he won in 1998, he was able to attend London’s Kingston University fir three months and improve his techniques of engraving, sculpting and photography. Xhixha graduated from Milan’s Brera Academy in February, 1991. He is acknowledged in the academic sphere for his style. He has continued to focalize his personal quest in an original direction ever since.

His definitive choice is creating sculptures in steel as his field of action and has found fresh and ingenious solutions. Helidon Xhixha has succeeded in finding a path which finds its roots in part within the modern tradition of non figurative sculpture iron sculptures in particular. But most importantly, his art has a very contemporary identity due to the diversity of his creative processes resulting from his artistic exigencies that feed directly upon a cultural sensitivity that is rigorously contemporary.

First of all, the emphasis placed upon the aesthetic tension derived from the relationship between the physical expressiveness of the materials used and the effects of light. His works continue to hold a prestigious role on the international art scene (America, Dubai, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, England, Principality of Monaco, Switzerland, etc.).
