Rudy Ricciotti

The architect Rudy Ricciotti was born in 1952 in Algeria. His father, a construction contractor, brought him to construction sites from an early age to familiarise him with the world of construction. He later attended the National Architecture School in Marseille and the Engineering School in Geneva. He’s based in Bandol, in the south of France.

A real fan of this area, he has designed several big architectural projects there: the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations, the « Pavillon Noir » in Aix-en-Provence and the Jean Cocteau Museum housing Séverin Wunderman’s collection. He purposefully does not work on Parisian and international projects.

Anxiety, omnipresent in his work, is a driver for him. He makes sure that each detail is meticulously taken into account to avoid any errors. He works tirelessly to promote the future of concrete, his favourite material which is increasingly overlooked in favour of more cost-effective materials. His perfect mastery of his craft won him the National Grand Prix for Architecture in 2006.
