Charmaine Pwerle

Charmaine Pwerle comes from one of the most renowned artist families in the Utopia region in the Northern Territory of Australia. With the famous Minnie Pwerle as her grandmother, and the equally talented Barbara Weir as her mother, it's no surprise that Charmaine Pwerle is bursting with artistry. She has forged a culture that straddles Western culture and Aboriginal culture. She is inspired by the country of her grandmother; It describes in symbolic form of Ancestors in search of food, the dry beds of rivers while emphasizing the ritual paintings of women, those that initiates paint themselves on the upper body.
