I ended the year 2022 with a series of Nana figurines (inspired on Niki de Saint Phalle's large scale Nana's), dancing on classical music. I kept it playful and light, applying a small palette of oil painting and pastels, adding original music composition pages from Mendelssohn, Chopin, etc., and Bali gold leaf. The Nana's are very feminine and of course curvy, presenting at the same time a boldness and elegant graciousness. At the same time they are a powerful symbol of women empowerment and feminist rebellion.

This year has been coloured by quite some difficult and upsetting events and challenges. The Ukraine war, the Covid times have influenced many of my works.

With these Nana series, I wanted to convey a happier story and bring some lightness and possibly a smile and foremost hope upon the coming year 2023.
