Biography
Reinhoud d'Haese is a Belgian painter and sculptor of the CoBrA movement. Born in 1928 in Geraardsbergen (Grammont, in East Flanders), he began working with a Brussels silversmith, then learned to work with metal in sculpture at La Cambre in Brussels. In 1950, he joined the Ateliers du Marais where he met the other artists of the CoBrA movement: Christian Dotremont, Pierre Alechinsky. Very inspired by insects, he developed a gallery of characters and animals in the tradition of the Caractères de La Bruyère. In all, his work includes more than 3000 sculptures, all unique, in metal, ceramic, wood or even breadcrumbs.
