Emilie Danchin is a Belgian photographer born in 1970.

She discovered photography and psychoanalysis almost at the same time, when she was still a child. She practiced both of them for a long time before combining these two practices of observation and analysis of the human nature into phototherapy.

Between 1995 and 2005, she produced several series of photos on themes such as Love, The Slaughterhouses, The Taxidermist, The Sleepwalker and The Transfer.

In 2011, she published Terrain connu (Familiar Field) at the Editions Yellow Now end established the “Photographic analytics”, a therapeutic approach inspired by psychoanalysis. When she was a chid, she discovered photography, which was for her a way of meeting the others while staying protected. In phototherapy, she uses photography in order to unveil the visual unconsciousness of the models, by capturing their emotions, their sensations, their intuition and their imaginary world.
