Biography
Born in Brazil in 1948, Cildo Meireles is a Brazilian conceptual artist, sculptor and installation artist.
Meireles uses his installations as a means of demonstrating his opposition to the political oppression in Brazil.
Major exhibitions of his work have taken place at SESC Pompeia, São Paulo (2020), HangarBicocca, Milan (2014), The Tate Modern, London (2008) and the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York (1999).
