Galia Chuntova is born in Sofia, Bulgaria.
1984 - Graduation from the High School for Fine and Applied Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria.
1989 - Graduation from the National Academy for Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Her paintings are a treasure trove for a whole novel, they are filled with symbols that beg to be deciphered, with nods to Samuel Beckett and allusions to René Magritte. And then there is the paper boat as an ever present detail in Galia's works. This paper boat has become a trademark of the artist. And let us hear what the author herself has to say about this: The paper boat has a message and a very important one – take life easy, breathe deeply, float! Bad thoughts are like stones, they drag us to the proverbial bottom. Paper boats get wet in seconds. But while they float, they are the epitome of beauty!
