Maria Barrio

Maria Barrio is a French-Chilean painter born in 1988 in Valparaiso, Chile.

She lives and works in Paris. 

Maria Barrio often paints places of everyday life, places where she has lived and traveled in her life. 

Her pictorial work revolves around her own life in a thematic way, often being the subject and object of her painting. The artist is represented in different scenarios that frame her own biography: her memories, feelings, sexuality and thoughts. To compose her
paintings, she uses various photographic and audiovisual material: films and photographs, magazines, newspapers, tourist brochures and video clips that are based on her memory, her symbolic space and the relationship to images obtained by recording devices.
