Chu Teh-Chun is a Chinese contemporary painter born in 1920. He died in 2014 ; he was living in France since 1955.
Chu Teh-Chun's abstract painting has much in common with Zao Wou Ki's work, as the they both belong to the same generation of Chinese artists. Chu Teh-Chun's practice has a key place in the paysagisme abstrait (abstract landscape or abstract impressionism) movement.
In Chu Teh-Chun's paintings, the abstraction reveals lyrical elements and gestures typical to his time. From color to the treatment of the work, each element of the composition contributes to the feeling of studied spontaneity.
In 1997 Chu Teh-Chun became a member of l'Institut, which was part of the Académie des beaux-arts de France.
